My name is Jess and I’ve just turned 40, I spent 35 years of my life avoiding the gym and thinking the fitness world wasn’t for me but how wrong I was. It has now become something I am so passionate about and it really has changed my life.
I’m now fitter at 40 than I was in my 20’s or even 30’s and I really want to share my story to help inspire other people who feel like the fitness world isn’t for them or who feel like they are too old to start. It’s never too late to make positive changes in your life and the benefits aren’t just to your physical health but also to your mental health which for me is the main reason I love it so much.
I do CrossFit 6 days a week and I am also new to calisthenics, I have so many fitness goals including learning to do the front splits. I share my process on my social media accounts and my favourite movement is a pull up so once a week I put on a dress and do pull ups wearing it. It’s quickly becoming my highlight of the week. Pull ups are fun but pull ups in a dress are even better! I like it because it challenges the stereotype that women who are strong or who have muscles are masculine. We can be strong and feminine!!
